The Legal Help for Homeowners Project is a new program of Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation, Inc., funded by a grant from the Illinois Attorney General under the national bank foreclosure settlement. The Project provides free legal help to homeowners in danger of losing their homes, including those who are already in foreclosure, as well as those who are behind on or struggling to make their payments but not yet in foreclosure. Project attorneys may provide a range of services based on each homeowner’s situation, such as: advice and budget counseling assistance with mortgage modification legal representation in the foreclosure Under this new program, Land of Lincoln can help homeowners with income above its usual limits. Land of Lincoln provides free civil legal services to eligible low-income residents and seniors in 65 counties in Central and Southern Illinois. We handle only certain kinds of civil cases. The kind of help we provide ranges from telephone advice or brief service, to representation in court or at administrative hearings. Click here for a map of our service area and locations.
